FAQ

        1. Can I make changes once my order is placed?

Absolutely! You can make changes to your order at any time up until you approve your proof. Contact us with your order number to request any changes.

        2. What is the cost to make changes once my order is placed?

There is no cost for modifying text, adding landmarks and icons, or making minor adjustments to your map's position. Additional charges will incur when upgrading to a larger map size or adding extra water layers.

        3. What is a proof?

A proof is a 2D design of your map so you can check your map’s layout, landmarks, and text before it’s made. We will not begin cutting and assembling your map until you approve your proof.

       4. Why doesn’t my proof look like the finished 3D wooden maps on your website?

The proof is only for you to see the layout of your map along with your chosen font, title, and landmarks. The colors you see on the proof do not reflect the colors on the finished map.

Blue lines: Blue lines are used to indicated water and large islands within the water. Blue islands will cut out and raised. Grey islands are too small to cut, so they will be engraved.

Dark Blue lines: These lines will appear as black laser-engraved depth lines on your wooden map.

Red lines: These will appear as cut depth layers on your finished map.

Gold and Yellow: These colors are used for all text and icons. The gold is also used for waterways that are too narrow to cut out. Anything in gold or yellow will be laser-engraved into the wood. It will appear dark brown or black.

Light grey lines: These are roadways and will appear dark brown or black on your map.

Purple lines: These represent border or railroad lines. They will appear dashed and dark brown or black.

Greyish-purple: This color is used for any objects in the water that are too small to cut out. These objects will be laser-engraved and appear dark brown or black on your final map.

       5. Will I see another proof if I make changes to the first?

Yes! Each time we adjust your map we will send you an updated proof. We want you to be 100% satisfied with your map, so we will not begin making your wood map until you have approved the proof.

        6. How long will it take to receive my wood map?

Once your order is placed, you should receive a proof within 2 weeks. Please note that during peak periods, like the Christmas season, lead times may be longer. Orders are processed in the order they’re received. Once you approve your proof, your map will be cut, assembled, and shipped within 3-5 business days. Large and complex maps may take more time. Standard maps with no customizations are generally shipped within 1-2 weeks. You may contact us at any time to find out where your order is in the process.

         7. How are maps shipped to me?

We use UPS Ground to ship and track your wooden map. Maps are shipped out daily and usually take between 3-5 business days to arrive at their destination.

We go to great lengths to safeguard your map during transit. All map corners are wrapped in thick plastic. Cardboard pieces are then placed over the plastic for added protection. The wooden map is then carefully packed into an appropriately sized, durable cardboard box for shipping.

        8. How much does shipping cost?

UPS Ground shipping is free for all maps shipped within the continental USA. Free shipping may also extend to other parts of North America. Contact us to learn more or if you prefer an alternative shipping method. If a different shipping method is chosen, customers are responsible for covering shipping costs.

       9. What if I want to cancel my custom order?

If you have not received your custom proof, there is no cancellation charge.

A $100 charge will be applied to your order if you opt to cancel after a custom proof has been created. This fee covers the labor cost of designing your custom proof.

      10. Can I return or exchange my map once I receive it?

Standard Maps: If you are dissatisfied with your purchase for any reason, we offer an exchange within 30 days of receiving your order or a full refund if the return is initiated within 7 days of receiving your order. This is applicable only to standard, non-custom orders.

To initiate a return, please contact us for a Return Authorization number and return instructions. The customer is responsible for covering the return shipping costs. We will respond to your request within 1 business day. Kindly refrain from sending back items without a Return Authorization number, as this may cause delays in processing time.

For an exchange or full refund, all maps must be returned in their original condition. We will notify you within 1 business day upon receiving your package and process your request. Allow 24-48 hours for refunds and credits to be posted to your credit card or PayPal account. Please inform us of any delays.

Custom Maps: Custom products, including standard maps personalized with your chosen title or icons, are not eligible for return or exchange because they are not suitable for resale. To minimize the likelihood of returns, we will send you a proof to ensure the map is to your satisfaction.

        11. What if my map arrives damaged?

Please inspect your order as soon as you receive it, and contact us immediately if the item is defective or damaged, or in the unlikely event you receive the wrong item, so we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Rest assured, we go to great lengths to safeguard your map during transit. All map corners are wrapped in thick plastic. Cardboard pieces are then placed over the plastic for added protection. The wooden map is then carefully packed into an appropriately sized, durable cardboard box for shipping.

       12. How do I care for my wood map?

All of our wooden maps are finished with a polyurethane protective coating. Therefore, you only need to wipe your map with a clean, dry cloth to remove dust buildup. While the polyurethane coating protects the wood against minor water damage, we do not recommend hanging your map outdoors. Prolonged exposure to the elements may deteriorate its condition.
